Basement Heating Option in Idaho Falls, ID

Updated August 15th, 2024

Whether you’ve recently finished your basement or are just looking for a way to keep it warm during the winter, you have a lot of options. By understanding each one, you can pick the ideal solution to fit your needs and budget.

Connect to Existing Ducting

If you have a centralized HVAC system in your home, your easiest option is likely to connect to it. Most of your ducting should be exposed in the basement, which makes it super simple to install registers.

Before you connect to any existing ductwork, it’s best to consult one of our heating technicians. They can assess your house and ensure that your current heating system is capable of heating your basement and the floors above it.

Electric Baseboard

If you don’t have existing ductwork or you’re unable to tap into it, you may want to consider adding electric baseboards. These are metal heaters that run along the bottom of the wall in each room. Each heater is hardwired to a thermostat that allows you to individually control the temperature in that room.

Ductless Mini-Split

If you don’t have existing ducting, you may want to consider installing a ductless mini-split system. This type of system works to both heat and cool. You’ll have a wall unit in each main room that connects to an outdoor compressor unit. There’s no ducting required, and you can enjoy the benefit of zoned heating with this type of heating setup.

Space Heater

Another option for providing quick heat to your basement is using a space heater. These aren’t intended to be used around the clock. Rather, they’re a great supplemental option to consider if you’re just looking for quick heat for a couple of hours while you’re down in your basement working or playing. If you intend to spend long hours in your basement, it’s best to opt for one of the other heating options above.
